Women and men in music and art

I was born in Russia. I arrived to U.S. in 2002. I brought to this country my knowledge, my musical scores and my ideas. Because I am a woman and composer, I have my own view of the world of art.
How women artists see the art? How men artists see the art? There is no one formula, and different women and men see it differently. But I can share , how I see the world of art. I can share it through my music, and also through my comprehension of the art of other women and men.
I consider myself impressionist in my music. This why I feel so close to other impressionists. Sometimes even I feel myself as a composer much closer to the artists, than to composers. I can find a lot in common in my music and their paintings.
This why, I am able not only to hear my music, but also to SEE IT, or to visualize it.

The most big impression a got from the exhibit of women impressionists in San Francisco, Legion of Arts Museum. Exhibit happened between June 21-September 21, 2008.
It was such a shock! I never ever in my life saw such great amount of the paintings of four great women artists. There were four geniuses women, presented at the same time and in the same place. I was overwhelmed with admiration and amazed so much, that it probably will effect me and the rest of my life.
I bought literally all the books about these women in a museum store during the time of the exhibit. I amconstantly reading them and I am in a constant admiration. Almost each event, that happened to them, happened to me, too. Because I am a woman, who creates a new world in music, and I feel so much empathy to these four women impressionists. I feel the same, like them.
The names of these women are Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot, Marie Braquemont and Eva Gonzales.
I cannot choose out of them my favorite, because they are all my favorites. But I feel close to Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt, although I admire, of course Marie Braquemont and Eva Gonzales. I feel very close also to each of them, because of all their life, their struggle to be women and artists at the same time, which was tremendously difficult those times.
Actually, now I can definitely tell, that I feel closer as a person to Berthe Morisot. Her manner of talking, her personality is very close to what I feel in my life in general. There are of course, differences due to the times and culture we present.
There is one particular story, I'd like to describe. Once Berthe Morisot painted a new painting. It was a masterpiece, and it was already purchased, so she needed to send it to the person, who bought it. Eduard Manet, great impressionist and her friend, made few remarks about this painting, while looking at it. Then he started to paint over her painting, showing this way, that it could be done better.
I cannot believe, she could handle it so easily. What if she would paint something over his painting, that was already purchased and ready to leave?
I can imagine, what the reaction of Eduard Manet would be in this case!
Berthe Morisot was not less talented, than Eduard Manet or other men impressionists. All her fault was that she was a woman! But she was also a genius.
